C. Jakarta Mayor: Prices of Basic Needs at Palmerah Market are Stable

Central Jakarta Mayor, Dhany Sukma accompanied the Trade Minister, Zulkifli Hasan to visit Palmerah Market, Tanah Abang, Thursday (1/4).

Prices of basic needs tend to decrease further

The visit was aimed at monitoring several prices of basic needs at Palmerah Market in early 2024.

Central Jakarta Mayor, Dhany Sukma said that from today's monitoring results, the prices of basic needs at Palmerah Market were still stable.

"Prices of basic needs tend to decrease further compared to last year's monitoring," he expressed.

He explained that the Jakarta Government is also committed to anticipating a price hike in basic needs in Jakarta by fulfilling supplies in collaboration with some regions, market operations, and subsidized cheap food programs.

"As well as using land together with Jakarta residents through the urban farming program," he explained.

Trade Minister, Zulkifli Hasan was grateful that the prices from monitoring results at the Palmerah Market in early 2024 were relatively stable.

"The government succeeded in reducing the inflation rate in December to only 0.41 percent. Overall, in 2023, inflation reached 2.61 whereas the previous year it was 5.5. So, the decrease is more than half," he added.

Even, several prices for basic needs at Palmerah Market include chicken meat around Rp 33,000 per kilogram, and eggs Rp 27,000 per kilogram.

"Meanwhile, the price of chilies has decreased compared to two to three weeks ago when it was Rp 120,000 per kilogram. However, in several areas in Java, it is already Rp 40,000," he stated.
